Jormungandr, or the Midgard Serpent, was born of Loki and the giantess Angrboða. Odin cast him into the ocean, where he grew so large that he encircled the world, biting his own tail—a symbol of eternal cycles. His presence around Midgard connected him to nature's unpredictable forces, instilling fear in gods and mortals alike due to his foretold role in Ragnarok.

During this final battle, Jormungandr would release his tail, unleashing chaos. He would confront Thor in a fierce duel, rising from the sea and spitting venom that darkened the skies. Although Thor would kill Jormungandr with Mjölnir, he would succumb to the serpent's poison shortly after, marking the end of both the serpent and the mighty god, heralding the world's demise.
